Creating opportunities and protecting nature
The African Bush Camps Foundation is a non-profit organisation, founded alongside African Bush Camps by visionary Beks Ndlovu. Working with rural communities in Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. Their programmes focus on three interconnected pillars. Education, Community Empowerment, and Conservation. Improving quality of life while protecting Africa’s wild spaces.
Since 2006, the Foundation has strengthened schools, created sustainable livelihoods, and built conservation initiatives that tackle human–wildlife conflict.
Today, this work continues through projects like building Lion Bomas in Zimbabwe, which protect livestock, support families and give lions a chance to thrive. This will be the focus of our campaign.
Vision
The Foundation’s vision is to ensure that the people and wildlife living around African Bush Camps can thrive together. By co-creating projects with local leaders, they empower communities to take ownership of their future. Building brighter opportunities for the next generation, while protecting iconic species and landscapes.
Mission
Their mission is to turn tourism into a force for lasting change. Every journey with African Bush Camps contributes to grassroots projects that educate children, empower families, and protect wildlife. The conservation focus area aims to improve human–wildlife coexistence, safeguard livestock, and conserve species and natural resources across communities and national parks.
What they need
Right now, the Foundation is expanding its Lion Boma Project in Zimbabwe. Here, families live alongside lions and livestock losses can mean hunger and hardship. This can lead to retaliation killings of lions. The Lion Bomas are simple, mobile enclosures that block lions from seeing livestock. Since the project began, not a single animal inside a boma has been lost to predators.
Each boma costs $1,000 and protects a family’s herd, thus reducing lion killings. The project aims to fund the construction of 7 bomas. Your support will help communities live peacefully with wildlife protecting both livelihoods and lions.
